Science Night on October 20th!
Science Night is an annual celebration of science and technology at Orange Coast College. Each year, the science departments show off student projects and demonstrate the work they do in the classroom. It's an excellent opportunity to tour OCC's facilities, meet professors in other departments, and see some exciting and unusual work being done at the school. It's open to children and their families from nearby school districts, and serves as an outreach program to interest them in pursuing a career in the sciences.
NTHS is expanding its role and helping provide information for guests this year in addition to hosting a dinner for the IEEE. We need volunteers to fill shifts. There are about 10 docent stations we will be setting up around the school to provide information during the event. Additionally, we need help setting up and tearing down the dinner for the IEEE. Training will be provided for volunteers at an upcoming date, and you will be notified of it if you are registered for the slot.
All volunteers will receive raffle tickets for their time; we will be raffling off gift cards (for gas, coffee, and food) for each of the timeslots. Rewards will be distributed among timeslots, so signing-up for a slot with fewer people will improve your odds. You can use service hours logged when applying for transfer or for scholarships. We will be holding a workshop on applying for these later in the year if you would like to learn more.
